At Ventana, we designed every residence to take advantage of sweeping views of Lake Minnetonka while creating a boutique living experience that fits comfortably into downtown Wayzata.
This project began with a clear opportunity for downtown Wayzata: create a boutique residential building that fully embraces its setting overlooking Lake Minnetonka. The client asked us to design homes that would capture the views, bring in abundant natural light, and offer the kind of quiet luxury that fits the character of the lakeshore community.
We oriented the residences to frame views of the lake and the nearby public park, using expansive windows and generous balconies to extend living spaces outward. Inside each home, we paired those views with warm, high-quality materials—custom cabinetry, fireplaces, walk-in showers, and soaking tubs—to create interiors that feel both refined and comfortable.
The site came with a unique challenge. Poor soil conditions related to a nearby wetland required careful coordination with engineers to develop a specialized foundation system that could stabilize the building while protecting the design intent.
The result is a residential building that feels deeply connected to its setting—one where lake views, natural light, and thoughtful detailing shape the everyday experience of living downtown.
