Tucked within a serene natural landscape, the Okalee Senior Living and Memory Care Center in Medina offers a warm, community‑focused environment designed to support residents at every stage of care. We approached the project with a commitment to both resident well‑being and environmental stewardship, resulting in a place where nature, comfort, and dignity come together seamlessly.

The Okalee provides a full continuum of care, including independent living, assisted living, and memory care—each thoughtfully designed to feel like home while supporting residents’ evolving needs. A full‑service kitchen, salon, and fitness area encourage daily activity and independence, while a series of gathering spaces throughout the facility foster connection and community. The Cattail Pub and Terrace on the third floor is an inviting, elevated social hub that accommodates gatherings of all sizes and offers views of the surrounding landscape.

Nature plays a defining role in the design. The very name “Okalee” is inspired by the call of the red‑winged blackbird (“o‑ka‑lee”), a nod to the wetlands and natural habitat that embrace the site. Walking trails, lush views, and abundant wildlife create a restorative backdrop for residents and visitors alike.

Protecting this sensitive ecosystem was a priority. Significant care was taken to ensure that wetland areas remained undisturbed throughout construction and into long‑term operation. Stormwater management strategies were carefully engineered to collect, filter, and control runoff before it entered adjacent natural areas—preserving habitat health and maintaining the integrity of the local environment.
