Good Dwelling/Good Grocer
The Good Dwelling and associated Good Grocer project is a mixed-use building in the Whittier neighborhood in south Minneapolis. The apartment building and grocery store fit into Minneapolis’s famous Eat Street on Nicollet Ave. The non-profit grocery store, operated with primarily volunteer labor, occupies the ground floor and provides healthy and affordable food and produce to this under-served neighborhood. The design allows the grocery to open directly onto the sidewalk, providing bays for walkup vendors and sidewalk seating.
The 80 apartments above are designed for modern urban living with bright and simple floor plans anchored by oversized windows and patio doors that open the interior spaces directly to the outdoors. An energizing lobby lounge, breakfast bar, and beverage center provide a relaxed location that directly opens to the exterior sidewalk for communal gatherings and regularly curated activities. The fun roof deck provides energizing views of Eat Street and the surrounding community.
